Monster Bike ride through Buda and Pest

On this tour you ride a Monster Bike, a big-wheeled electric scooter that you ride standing up. Before we set off from our office, your guide gives a short safety briefing and shows you how to operate it, and then everyone practices for 10 to 15 minutes. The tour itself takes 150 minutes and covers both sides of the Danube. We cross Elisabeth Bridge to Buda, ride up to Buda Castle and the Fisherman’s Bastion, and come back to Pest over the Chain Bridge. On the Pest side we see St. Stephen’s Basilica, Liberty Square and the Parliament, and stop at the Shoes on the Danube Bank. Along the way your guide tells you about the history of the city and the places we pass.

Two banks of the Danube

After the safety briefing and practice at our office, we cross Elisabeth Bridge to the Buda side. From there we ride up to Buda Castle, the former royal palace on Castle Hill, and continue to the Fisherman’s Bastion, whose terraces look out over the river and the Pest bank. Coming down the hill, we reach the Chain Bridge, the first permanent bridge between Buda and Pest, and ride across it back to Pest. Next comes St. Stephen’s Basilica, the largest church in Budapest, followed by Liberty Square. We then ride to the Hungarian Parliament on the riverbank and continue along the Danube embankment to the last stop, the Shoes on the Danube Bank. This memorial remembers the Jews shot on the riverbank by Arrow Cross militiamen in 1944 and 1945. From there we return to our office.
